Mission
To contribute to the dignity of waste pickers through social inclusion, the circular economy and responsible waste recovery, integrating environmental education, innovation and the creation of decent green jobs.
A grassroots, triple-impact association from Bogotá that dignifies recycling and leads inclusive circular economy.
In 2023, with hearts full of hope and a firm purpose to make a difference, the Familia Ciklo Waste Pickers Association was born. It arose from the urgent need to dignify and recognize the invaluable work of Bogotá's waste-picker families, who, with every piece of waste, paper and cardboard collected, not only clean the city but also weave a more sustainable future.
Our work is grounded in values that go beyond the material: human commitment, social solidarity and deep respect for our planet. ¡Juntos somos Ciklo!
For years, thousands of waste pickers recovered materials without formal recognition. Today they are recognized as providers of the public waste-recovery service: Decree 1381 of 2024 established the framework for this activity and the path to formalize their organizations. At Familia Ciklo ESP we turn that framework into real opportunities for decent work, while returning valuable materials to the production chain and reducing pressure on the city's landfill.
To contribute to the dignity of waste pickers through social inclusion, the circular economy and responsible waste recovery, integrating environmental education, innovation and the creation of decent green jobs.
To be, by 2050, a leading social enterprise in the dignity of waste pickers, driving the transformation of potentially recoverable waste through the circular economy, positive environmental impact and environmental education; inspiring communities and companies, and bringing together more than 500 partners in Bogotá to transform more than 350 tonnes of recyclable materials per month.
We are a legally constituted association that complies with Decree 1381 of 2024. Review our documentation or write to us to partner.
